Remembering Mukeshji

August 27th 1976 Hindi Cinema lost one of the finest voice in the industry. Rajkapoor broke down and said? “I’ve lost my voice”. Mukeshji left behind a treasure house of some 1,500 songs. Every time he sang, his sincerity and vulnerability shone through, leaving no doubt that here was a true gentleman, that cannot be said of any other Hindi playback singer, except the sweetly sensitive and truly noble Mukesh Chand Mathur. Together with Lata Mangeshkar and Mohammed Rafi, he completed the trinity of silver throats who enriched and enraptured the Golden Era of hindi cinema playback. Fans like me can go on forever speaking about Mukeshji, but can not ignore the tremendous impact through his soulful singing which perhaps will linger forever.

Commemorating Mukeshji’s 32nd Anniversary, I would like to a pay a humble tribute through songs of my choice on this memorable day. He is still alive reviving every broken piece of heart with his supreme & sublime expression poured throughout his singing career.

Lastly, I have no words to express my thanks to Dr. Parasmaniji who had been very helpful and instrumental, correcting my gujju diction and always encouraging. Thanks Paras for accompanying me in this lovely duet. Friends, please give a listen to our humble attempt and leave your valuable feedback. Thanks to all for remembering "Mukeshji"

Thanks for singing "Patli kamar hai" with me. I like the tune a lot. You have sung this upbeat and fast number very well!
"Dil tujhe diya tha" was a very nice selection too. You have done a great job with the feelings. Lyrics bring tears to the eyes.
I had the opportunity to hear Mukesh on stage, twice. He gave sur with harmonium for some songs and kept his eyes closed at times while singing.
